Teaching & Community

I live in Scotland and teach creative writing widely, including regular reading and writing workshops for Open Book. I teach residential creative writing courses at centres such as Garsdale Retreat and Moniack Mhor and for several years I’ve run extended workshops at Café Tissardmine in the Moroccan Sahara.

I have mentored a number of writers through substantial projects and am registered with Scottish Book Trust’s Live Literature scheme which helps fund writer-led sessions in schools and communities. I’ve written a novel with primary school children over a number of weeks, been a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Stirling University, edited anthologies and on occasion give talks and presentations.

I am an active member of the Paper Boats collective of writers focussed on nature and environment in a time of climate and ecological breakdown. We are Scotland-based and global in outlook.
